A picturesque 5 mile walk taking in many of Cambridge’s colleges, giving participants a behind the scenes view of the University. |
More than 2000 walkers are expected to take to the streets of Cambridge on 12th September for Bridge the Gap, a picturesque 5 mile walk taking in many of Cambridge’s colleges, giving participants a behind the scenes view of the University.
Last year, one walker commented ‘I’ve lived in Cambridge for 30 years and never seen what was behind that fence.’ There will also be guides on hand to explain the history of some of the buildings. The route, beginning from Jesus Green, varies each year and this time around will include the Polar Museum, which has recently undergone major refurbishement, and the Cambridge Union, the oldest and most prestigious student debating society in the world.
Last year the event raised £38,000, and is now in its ninth year. Bridge the Gap breaks down the barriers between town and gown and is a fantastic family day out. It is wheelchair and pushchair friendly, and brings together all ages from 0 to 90. Corporate teams are also welcome and it is enjoyed as a great bonding excercise for many local companies.
Entry is £10 before 1st September or £15 afterwards. This year you can register online at www.bridgethegapwalk.org Alternatively, for further details or to be send a postal registration form, please call the fundraising team on 01223 723 115.
Registration on the day is possible and walkers may set off from Jesus Green between 9.30am and 11am.
