Light up a Life
Light up a Life is a time and space where you can remember, reflect, and look forward with hope in your heart. Our 2025 appeal is now closed and will return in September 2026.
This year's services
Thank you to everyone who supported at one of our in-person services this year:
Arthur Rank Hospice
On Saturday 29 November, our service in Cambridge took place at the Hospice in Shelford Bottom.
You can read more about the 2025 event about here.
The Alan Hudson Centre
Our second service took place on Saturday 6 December at St Peter’s & St Paul’s Parish Church, Church Terrace, Wisbech.
Light Up a Life Appeal
In return for your kind donation, which will support people in Cambridgeshire living with an advanced serious illness or other life-limiting condition and those who need end of life care, you can opt to receive a Light up a Life pin badge.
The names of any loved ones you would like to be remembered can be added during the donation process and will be included in the online addendum. Please note the deadline to be included in the commemorative booklet has now passed. The addendum will be updated weekly until 5th January.

The difference your donation can make
Your generous donations will help to raise the £14 million* to run our services. As more people turn to us for support, we turn to our community and ask you to help us be there when people need us.
Making every moment count and helping patients experience a positive end of life is our highest priority. For us, there is no such thing as ‘no’. With a little imagination, we can help tick off those bucket list moments – whether it’s the Wedding they always dreamed of, family gathered for a meal, or a visit from their favourite animal (recently we had donkeys visit the Hospice!)
Whatever the patient’s wish, they are given a voice to tell us, and our incredible team do everything in their power to make it happen.
Without your donations, this precious time wouldn’t be possible. You truly help us to make lasting memories for patients and their loved ones.
(*Contracted services from the NHS are budgeted at £8.1 million, with the help of our community, we need to raise a further £5.9 million).
Light up a Life Event attendeeI would just like to pass on how grateful me and my family are of you. We were all at the ceremony and it was absolutely wonderful and so calming. Thanks again for the amazing care Arthur Rank gave my Grandad, the carers made his last three weeks comfortable and we couldn’t be more thankful for them.
Both services were free to attend and always feature carols, poetry, and music.
As we switched the lights on the existing trees in the car park of the Hospice in Cambridge, and the lights on the Christmas Tree in the Church at Wisbech, we took a moment to pause and reflect on the love and memories of those who have died and who still live on in our heart and mind.
Everyone is always welcome to attend, no matter what part of the journey you are on and whether you have or haven’t received our care. These events are open to people of all faiths or no faith.
At the end of both services, there were warm drinks and mince pies.
Wisbech Funeral Service very generously sponsored the event and the owner, James Mooney-Dutton also attended and played the beautiful Organ.
‘Your Choir’ gave us a beautiful rendition of ‘A wonderful World’, along with Christmas Carols.
The Light Up The Light services take place annually and look forward to seeing you next year.
