Engaging with our diverse community is one of our key values: We are part of our community, our community is part of us, our community is everyone in Cambridgeshire who needs us.

In order to ensure our services, environment and care is accessible to all, we continue to speak to others in our community. Our Matron of Clinical Services, Carly Wills and Voluntary Services Manager, Hannah Touhey were delighted to have been invited by Maggie from the Cambridge Chinese Community Centre to a ‘Peaceful Aging’ event recently, to speak about end of life and palliative care.

Carly and Hannah were able to answer questions about available services, referrals and the importance of advanced care planning.

They were joined by Chunmei Jian from Cambridge Manor Care Homes, who spoke in depth about the process of exploring the needs of the individual, the types of care homes available and funding. Around 15 people attended and asked some excellent follow up questions.

The Cambridge Chinese Community Centre runs at Netherhall School in Cambridge on Sundays from 10-5pm and children engage a range of cultural activities. Afternoons events are also provided between 2-5pm. Hannah and Carly were able witness some of the activities and were treated to wonderful music throughout.

Hannah commented:

“It was a wonderful event and we are very grateful to have been invited. We hope to build on this meaningful relationship and plan to return to share further information about our wonderful Arthurs Shed space!”

Maggie shared:

“Your presence and insightful sharing about Arthur Rank Hospice Charity were invaluable in helping our community better understand the importance of the Hospice and the care you provide.”
