Yes, absolutely! Children between 10 – 15 years of age are welcome to register alongside a paying adult.
What's the dress code?
There’s no dress code, we simply recommend wearing whatever you find comfortable to walk in. Each participant will receive their very own Star Shine t-shirt on the night and we very much encourage anything bright and wacky that will help set the City aglow!
The walk will go ahead come rain or shine, so do keep an eye on the forecast in the lead up to the event and come weather ready!
How much is being raised?
We always like to set a challenge to ourselves, so this year we have a very ambitious target of £50,000. With your help, we are sure that we can smash that goal and make a huge difference to the lives of so many cared for by the Charity!
How many people will be taking part?
We’d love to see 500 participants setting the city aglow this year, so sign up now to be one of them!
How can I volunteer on the day instead of walking?
All volunteers are enormously appreciated and help us to make the evening a success. Please get in contact with the Fundraising Team by emailing fundraising@arhc.org.uk or telephone 01223 675888 if you’d like to lend a hand.
Can I bring my dog?
You absolutely can! We welcome all well-behaved four legged friends on a lead who wish to join the walk with their owners! Dogs must remain outside at all times and please do make sure you pick up any toileting they do on route.
Do I have to fundraise?
Although not compulsory, we really encourage you to fundraise. You can do this as a group if you sign up with family and friends, or individually.
We’ll give you lots of support with fundraising tips and help you set up an online fundraising page so it’s really easy to get started.
Your fundraising will help make a difference to the support people in Cambridgeshire living with an advanced serious illness or other life-limiting condition and those who need end of life care receive
What if I can't walk 10 miles?
We hope that you’ll be able to take part in either the 10 or 5-mile route, however, if you feel that those are unmanageable distances at this time and still want to be there on the night to show your support, then get in contact with fundraising@arhc.org.uk to volunteer to help out and marshal!
Is there parking at the event?
Parking is available at Shelford Rugby Club. We do recommend car sharing where you can.
Is there someone to buddy with if I come on my own?
Yes, please let one of the team know on the night and we will match you with someone else.
Do you have a Star Shine Night Walk in Wisbech too?
Yes, for the first time, in 2025 you can also take part in Star Shine Night Walk in Wisbech. For more information please visit: arhc.org.uk/SSNWWisbech
Star Shine Stars
“I was blown away from start to finish by the passion, support and kindness from everyone involved, and the tea and biscuits were so very welcome and a lovely touch at the finish.
I am still buzzing now and am so proud to have got my very first medal, and will wear my t-shirt with pride whenever I go out walking“.
2024 Participant
Thank you to everyone who joined us for Star Shine Night Walk 2024. With over 400 of you setting the streets of Cambridge aglow, it was an incredibly special event.
In 2024, 400+ people took part, an amazing group of volunteers, countless friends and family who sponsored people taking part, along with our wonderful sponsors and media partners. It was a wonderful, memorable evening that fundraising is still coming in from to support people in Cambridgeshire living with an advanced serious illness or other life-limiting condition and those who need end of life care. You can help to make 2025 even bigger.
A team from Waitrose Trumpington joined us in 2024 to help set the City aglow.
Lynette Innocenti saw one of the Star Shine Night Walk flyers and said:
“As a branch we have not done anything like this before (individually maybe, but not as a team). A couple of us saw the Star Shine flyer that had been dropped off in the Trumpington branch and thought it would be a great way to raise money for a wonderful cause and it would be something we could do as a team. I decided to create a sign up sheet in the branch hoping that other partners would join me.””

Thank you to our 2025 sponsors
We would like to extend a huge thank you to our venue partner, Shelford Rugby Club, our t-shirt sponsor, Hamberley Care Home, Cambridge Grove, our refreshments sponsor Compass IT Support Ltd, and our detachables sponsor, Huttie Group.

Want to volunteer?
If you are able to help out for a few hours on Saturday 21 June 2025, we would love to hear from you. You can email events@arhc.org.uk or telephone 01223 675888. We couldn’t run our events without the help of our invaluable volunteers.

Thank YOU
